Hotspur's Character Analysis

Who am I?

I'm Hotspur, dammit! I'm the roughest, toughest soldier around. I am a large man with a beard. I have been in many battles before, some of which I have won and some of which I have lost. I helped kick Richard off of the throne and get King Henry IV onto the throne. I'm young, but I'm extremely successful in my short years. I am extremely affluent and a devout Catholic. The world revolves around me because I am God's gift to the planet. I am straight. I am extremely hot headed and my view is often clouded by my end goal. I have a wife, but no kids. I am young, around seventeen years old. I am not afraid of death. Honor is as important to me as life itself. I am extremely rude at times, but my intentions are usually good.

What time is it?

The late 1350s. England is the main powerhouse of the world. The plague isn't as big of a deal as it used to be, but it still here. Machivelli's "The Prince" has shaped the political structure, and seems to actually be something that Hotspur would follow. There's no indication of the time of year, but I'd like to think it's summer. That's when people get hot headed.

Where am I?

England, in King Henry IV's court.

What surrounds me?

Political turmoil, a new kingdom, thousands of soldiers, hate from the king.

What are the given circumstances?

I have an extremely powerful father who will follow me into battle. Worcester wants me to fight the king that I helped bring to power. My cousin, Mortimer, has been captured in battle. The king curently holds the throne that I want. I have prisoners that the king is demanding of me.

What is my relationship?

My wife is a nagger, but I still have a somewhat faithful and loving relationship with her. Worcester serves as my mentor. I hate the king. Northumberland is my father, but I don't really interact with him that much. I hate Prince Hal for being such a pansy. I don't care much for Mortimer, but my wife wants him back.

What do I want?

Super Objective-- Become king

Objectives-- Don't piss off the king, convince him to give ransom for Mortimer, don't give up any prisoners.

What's my obstacle?

The king currently hates me and is more powerful than I am. He demands my prisoners and won't give up any ransom for Mortimer.

How am I going to get it?

I will overthrow the king and refuse to give him any of my prisoners. But that idea comes from Worcester. For now I'll just throw a hissy fit and talk about how honorable I am.

How will I know when I've got it?

The king will be dead, I'll have my prisoners, and Mortimer will be safe and sound.
